For Mac users, a built-in program called disk utility can copy CD or DVD as an image in .cdr format and store them on your hard drive.

Unfortunately, some programs like unetbootin require a disk image in .iso format.

This tutorial shows how to convert the image from .cdr to .iso using the built-in hdiutil on a Mac.
